Any American Idol fans out there? I’ve been watching pretty much since the beginning of time. I love the music and I’m so inspired by the stories of each of the contestants. They’re just regular old people getting a chance at a dream, and it’s so fun to watch them succeed.
I’m actually a big fan of how they’ve started speeding up the process over the last couple of years, and Carrie Underwood as a new judge is so fun! I do miss Katie Perry’s craziness though.
I’m bringing up American Idol because a few weeks ago one of the contestants, a stay-at-home mom of 1, sang Lauren Daigle’s “You Say” and called it her personal anthem.
I’ve heard that song before, but that night, I REALLY heard it:
You say I am Loved when I can’t feel a thing.
You say I am strong when I think I am weak.
And you say I am held when I am falling short.
And when I don’t belong, oh You say I am Yours.
And I Believe. Oh I Believe what you say of me.
My mind has been thinking a lot about how God views me and how I view myself. Honestly, we can go ahead and add me to the statistics of women who have fallen into the trap of not feeling good enough.
But, I’m done doing that. I feel confident that my offering is enough for God. If Christ was talking to God the Father about me, I imagine He would say something like,
“She is so strong. She keeps getting up and trying again and again. I’m so proud of her.”

And that’s where Lauren Daigle’s song comes in.
In case I forget that I’m done talking badly about myself, I printed the words to the chorus of “You Say” to hang on my mirror and by my work computer. I read them everyday, and I do it out loud if I need to.

These words are so beautiful and uplifting. Lauren really captured the heart of so many people who are trying but feeling weak, and she captured the heart of a God who loves and lifts them. This song makes me feel connected to humanity and Deity at the same time.
Interestingly, my very favorite words of the whole chorus are these three:
And I BELIEVE.
Because as much as God loves us, if we don’t believe it, it will do nothing for us.
When we choose to believe how He feels about us it gives us strength and power, to not only survive, but to have a life filled with joy.

I’m sharing this free printable with all of you so that you can join me in saying NO to negative self-talk, and remembering how God truly feels about you.
Put this beautiful song chorus in a place you’ll see it often, and if you need to, say the words out loud until you believe them.
